Piper Aircraft For Sale

 Piper was originally called Taylor Brothers Aircraft Manufacturing Company when it was registered in 1927 in New York by brothers Clarence Gilbert and Gordon. In 1928 Gordon died in a plane crash and the company was renamed Taylor Brothers Aircraft Company. From New York, the company moved to Bradford, Pennsylvania in 1929. Investors put in some money in the company including $400 from William T. Piper.

 The following year, 1930, the company went bankrupt and Mr. Piper promptly purchased the assets of company for $760 - roughly equivalent to $7000 in today's currency. It became the Taylor Aircraft Company. In 1935, Piper paid Clarence Gilbert Taylor. Taylor went on to form his own company. By 1937, any trace of Taylor's contribution to the company were erased. It was then the company was renamed Piper Aircraft Corporation.

The company changed hands several times until it was bought by a Singapore-based investment company called Imprimis. It's headquarters is still in Vero Beach, Florida.

 Piper produced the first mass produced inexpensive training aircraft called the Piper J-3 Cub.
